A faction of the Islami Oikya Jote was removed from a dialogue with the Election Commission (EC) over internal party disputes on Sunday morning (November 16).

The incident took place at the EC conference room in Agargaon before the session began, attended by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin, four other commissioners, and representatives of six political parties.

The faction led by Mufti Shakawat Hossain Razi entered the hall first, prompting confrontation with the group loyal to Hasanat Amini. Raji labeled the other faction as “supporters of fascism” and refused to participate if they remained.

EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed asked both sides for hard copies of their invitation letters; only Raji’s group could provide them. As a result, Amini’s faction was asked to leave.

Joint General Secretary Maulana Altaf Hossain of the expelled faction said the EC acted unilaterally despite their registered status and issued invitation.

CEC Nasir Uddin urged political parties to cooperate for free and fair elections and follow the code of conduct during dialogues and voting.

Parties attending the morning session included Gano Forum, Gana Front, Islami Oikya Front Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote, Bangladesh Supreme Party-BSP, and Bangladesh Jatiya Party.
