Islamic University teacher Asma Sadia Runa stabbed to death in own office

Asma Sadia Runa, chairperson and assistant professor of the Social Welfare department at Islamic University (IB), has been stabbed to death in her own office.

The incident occurred around 4 pm on Wednesday, March 4, at the Social Welfare department in the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies building.

Later, students from the department found Fazlur Rahman, an employee of the Political Science department, in the same office in an apparent suicide attempt.

Upon receiving information, members of the proctorial body and IU Thana police arrived at the scene and recovered the bloodied bodies of both individuals.

They were taken to the university medical centre and later, in critical condition, were sent to Kushtia Sadar Hospital.
