Israel attacked US embassy in Saudi Arabia, not Iran: IRGC

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has said it has no direct involvement in the drone attack on the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Al Jazeera reported that Tehran has alleged that Israel was behind the attack. The IRGC claimed Israeli forces carried out the attack to tarnish Iran's image and damage its relations with neighbouring countries.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the actual damage was far greater than what Saudi Arabia claimed. The report noted that a fire inside the embassy burned for several hours and caused extensive internal damage, although the Saudi defence ministry presented it as a limited fire causing minor damage.

The IRGC strongly condemned the report, saying Iran had nothing to do with the attack, describing it as the work of Zionists. It also called on neighbouring Muslim countries to be wary of the conspiracy of the Zionist regime. The statement said the most important thing at this moment is to remain vigilant against efforts by the US and Zionist forces to create instability and their destructive intentions.
