Israeli strikes on Tehran leave 78 dead, hundreds injured: Reports
Multiple Israeli airstrikes targeted Tehran early Friday, killing at least 78 people and injuring over 329, according to Iranian state media and local sources.
The international news agency Anadolu Agency reported the figures, citing Iranian media outlets. Iran’s official news agency, Nour News, confirmed the death toll but stated that the numbers are preliminary.
The semi-official Fars News Agency described the attacks as terrorist strikes, reporting widespread casualties across the city.
Anadolu Agency detailed that Israel deployed nearly 200 warplanes, targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities and long-range missile sites. Several senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists were reportedly among the dead.
In response, Tehran has vowed “severe retaliation” and called for an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting to demand international action against Israel.
The situation remains tense, with global powers closely monitoring developments.
