The ‘Inner Wheel Club of Dhanmondi’, a social and charitable organization, has provided the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine to nine schoolgirls, aged 9 to 13, from disadvantaged families, to help prevent cervical cancer. This thoughtful initiative seeks to improve the health and awareness of these young students.

The first dose of the HPV vaccine was administered in January. The second and final dose was given on Friday (August 1) at a private clinic in Gulshan under the supervision of an experienced doctor. The purpose of this vaccination is to improve health protection and raise awareness about cervical cancer among young girls.

National Representative 2021–22, Nayar Islam, was present and briefly discussed the importance of the HPV vaccine — how it helps prevent cervical cancer and how these young girls can spread awareness among their peers.

The vaccinations were administered at a private clinic by a professional doctor. IWC Dhanmondi took full care of the girls’ transportation, guidance throughout the process and post-vaccine refreshments.

President Naznin Nahar and her team personally distributed food and drinks to the children and their guardians, making them feel cared for and appreciated.

Also present were PDC Shamsunnahar Huq, Club Secretary Morsheda Kabir, Editor Taslima Yusouf, DS Sarah Bishakha, DWM Parsa Sanjana and members Shakila Shams and Ulfat Ara — all of whom contributed to the success of this impactful initiative.

IWC Dhanmondi believes in creating awareness, taking action, and protecting the future of our girls. “Vaccinate to Eliminate — Protecting Girls, Preventing Cancer.”
