The fire at Peyala Cafe in Jahangir Tower in the capital's Karwan Bazar was brought under control within half an hour. Fire Service Headquarters Control Room Officer Md. Shahjahan said that a fire broke out at a cafe named Peyala on the ground floor of Jahangir Tower at 8:22 pm on Saturday. Upon receiving the information, two units of the Fire Service went there and were able to bring the fire under control at 8:50 pm. Peyala authorities said that the cafe was closed on Friday and Saturday, which are the weekly holidays. However, how the fire started is being investigated.

রাজধানীর কারওয়ান বাজারে জাহাঙ্গীর টাওয়ারের পেয়ালা ক্যাফেতে লাগা আগুন আধা ঘণ্টার মধ্যেই নিয়ন্ত্রণে এসেছে। ফায়ার সার্ভিস সদর দপ্তরের নিয়ন্ত্রণকক্ষের কর্মকর্তা মো. শাহজাহান বলেন, জাহাঙ্গীর টাওয়ারের নিচতলায় পেয়ালা নামের একটি ক্যাফেতে রাত ৮টা ২২ মিনিটের দিকে আগুন লাগে। খবর পেয়ে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের দুটি ইউনিট সেখানে গিয়ে ৮টা ৫০ মিনিটে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে সক্ষম হয়। পেয়ালা কর্তৃপক্ষ জানিয়েছে, সাপ্তাহিক ছুটির দিন গতকাল শুক্রবার ও আজ শনিবার ক্যাফে বন্ধ ছিল। তবে কীভাবে আগুন লাগল, সেটি খতিয়ে দেখা হচ্ছে।
