A Jamaat activist has been accused of attempting to seize land through mob intimidation in Rajshahi city’s Motihar police station area.

At a press conference on Thursday (April 2), Khadija Yasmin Khushi, daughter of Rajshahi University transport office employee Khalilur Rahman, alleged that on March 26, Nazir Ali, Rajab Ali and Milon Ali tried to occupy their house and shop.

She claimed the family was held confined for nearly eight hours during the incident and was later rescued after calling the national emergency service hotline 999. However, she alleged that police have yet to take action and did not formally record their complaint.

Motihar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said police visited the scene and removed the group involved, adding that the matter is currently under investigation.

Khadija further alleged that her family has since received threats of arson and violence, and said the pressure led her father to suffer a heart attack. He is currently undergoing treatment.

The accused, Jamaat activist Uzir Ali, denied the allegations, claiming the land belongs to them by inheritance. He also said he was not present during the incident and that a dispute with Khalilur Rahman’s son had already been resolved.

Regarding the land dispute, Khadija said six decimals of purchased land remain unregistered, though mentioned as “undisputed” in the deed.
