Jamaat activist held with Tk 7 lakh, voter list in Shariatpur

A joint force has arrested a Jamaat-e-Islami activist with Tk 7,20,000, a laptop, a voter list, and other important documents following a raid in Naria upazila, Shariatpur. The raid was conducted on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Master Golam Mostafa, 50, in Baishakhipara area of Naria municipality.

Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bahar Mia confirmed that the arrested individual is a local Jamaat activist.

He said the arrest was made with the cash following a raid based on secret information. The arrested person was later produced before a mobile court, which sentenced him to two years' simple imprisonment and fined him Tk 3,000.

According to law enforcement sources, approximately Tk 7,20,000, a laptop, blank envelopes, and election leaflets of the Jamaat candidate were recovered from the house during the raid. The seized items are being examined.

Attempts to contact KM Mobbul Hossain, Naib-e-Ameer of district Jamaat, were unsuccessful as he did not answer his phone.
