Jamaat Ameer admitted to hospital
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has been admitted to the hospital for bypass surgery. Doctors found five blockages in his heart.
He was taken to United Hospital in Dhaka on the morning of Saturday (August 2), accompanied by top Jamaat leaders, including the Secretary General and Nayeb-e-Ameer.
Earlier, on July 19, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman suddenly fell ill after attending a national rally of Jamaat at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital nearby. Although initial tests did not show any major issues, doctors suspected he was suffering from dehydration.
Later, he underwent several medical tests, which revealed five blockages in his heart. Among them, three are severe, and two are about 50% blocked. Doctors are scheduled to perform bypass surgery today to remove the three serious blockages.
