Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that some individuals are engaged in conspiracies to seize polling centres and snatch ballot papers. He urged law enforcement agencies to thwart this conspiracy. Dr Shafiqur Rahman made the allegation in a post on his verified Facebook account on Thursday.

In the Facebook post, the Jamaat Ameer said, "Dear fellow citizens, since yesterday you have defeated all rumours and resisted the attempts and conspiracies to seize polling centres. From this morning, you have been voting in a festive mood, immersed in the dream of establishing justice."

Dr Shafiqur Rahman further wrote, "We are observing with concern that attempts are being made to cast fake votes in various parts of the country. Polling agents are being attacked and injured in various places. Women are being harassed. Attempts are also being made to seize centres in several areas."

Appealing to the nation, he said, "Just as you have resisted attempts to steal votes and seize centres until now, protect your vote until the results are announced. Become the guardians of the polling centres so that no one can snatch away your valuable vote, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies."

Urging the administration including law enforcement agencies, he said, "You have so far tried with utmost sincerity to maintain a fair election environment. However, the nation believes more swift action is needed. We can see that some are engaged in conspiracies to seize centres and snatch ballots. We earnestly call upon you to suppress this conspiracy with a firm hand. Protect the trust of the people's vote. Stand by the people."
