Jamaat Ameer calls for observing Intellectuals Day, Victory Day

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called for observing December 14 as the 'Martyred Intellectuals Day' and December 16 as the ' Victory Day' with due dignity.

In a statement on Friday (December 13), he said that December 14 is the 'Martyred Intellectuals Day' and December 16 is the 'Great Victory Day'. The importance and significance of these two days in our national life are immense.

He said, “The countrymen are going to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Victory Day at a time when the students and the masses unitedly liberated the country from the clutches of the fascist government. The people of the country have been freed from the long 15 and a half years of misrule, oppression, torture, enforced disappearances and murders.”

He further said in the statement, “I am calling on all units of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14 and the Victory Day on December 16 with due dignity through discussions, rallies and prayers, expressing a strong commitment to protect the country's independence and sovereignty and establishing human rights.”
