Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Amir Hamza has been fined for violating the election code of conduct in two separate cases, with additional imprisonment in default.

Amir Hamza has been nominated to contest in Kushtia-3 (Sadar) seat.

A joint district and sessions judge passed the order on Tuesday (February 10).

The court ordered Tk 5,000 fine per case, totaling Tk 10,000, and in default, three days’ imprisonment per case, totaling six days. Hamza’s lawyer, Kazi Tawfiqul Islam, later paid the fines.

The cases were filed on February 8 by Rashed Ahmed of Shantidanga village, Kushtia Sadar, after a court investigation confirmed violations.

During inspection of electoral areas including Mozompur Gate, Panch Rashtro Mor, and Thana Mor, it was found that Hamza’s campaign banners lacked printer details, address, and printing date, contrary to election rules. Hamza’s lawyer admitted the errors in court.

The ruling cited compliance with the Political Parties and Candidates Code of Conduct, 2025, emphasizing that all regulations must be followed.

Rashed Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the verdict but noted that the banners and posters remain in place, and authorities have been informed to ensure proper enforcement.
