Jamaat candidate Samad bought 5.5 bighas of land at Tk 54 per decimal
Shocking information has emerged from the election affidavit of Mohammad Abdus Samad, a central executive council member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the party’s candidate for Sirajganj-3, Rayganj–Tarash. In his affidavit, he stated that he bought 5.5 bighas of land for Tk 9,754, with the price per decimal shown as only Tk 54.
For the 13th parliamentary election, Samad submitted his asset statement to the office of the upazila nirbahi officer and assistant returning officer in Rayganj on December 29, where he disclosed this information under immovable property.
He mentioned his educational qualification as a master’s degree and his profession as a retired service holder.
According to the affidavit, Samad’s total assets amount to Tk 26.35 million, with an annual income of Tk 1.46 million. His immovable assets are valued at Tk 16.39 million, while movable assets are shown at Tk 8.49 million.
His income details show an annual income of Tk 1.46 million, including Tk 900,000 from business, Tk 547,313 from house rent, and Tk 17,249 from bonds and shares. In his income tax return for the 2025–26 tax year, he declared assets worth Tk 25.28 million and an annual income of Tk 3.39 million, against which he paid Tk 142,912 in income tax.
His immovable assets include a six-storey building valued at Tk 6.04 million, 5.5 bighas of agricultural and non-agricultural land valued at Tk 9,754, and 64 decimals of agricultural land worth Tk 10.34 million.
His movable assets include Tk 2.90 million in cash, bonds and company shares worth Tk 493,130, a motor vehicle valued at Tk 3.7 million, 50 bhori of gold worth Tk 1.25 million, and furniture valued at Tk 150,000.
