Allegations of attack, obstruction and threats have emerged against the election campaign of Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, the 10-party alliance-backed candidate and AB Party secretary general, in Barishal-3 (Muladi–Babuganj), leading Jamaat-e-Islami to stage protests in Muladi.

Jamaat leaders alleged that Fuad’s campaigners were attacked on Friday afternoon in the Char Teki area of Muladi municipality while canvassing for the Eagle symbol.

According to the allegations, supporters of the BNP-affiliated Jubo Dal confronted the campaign team, leading to an altercation and violence that left several activists injured.

Jamaat leader Arif Hossain claimed he was beaten and threatened with death during the incident.

In protest, Jamaat-e-Islami brought out a procession from the Eidgah ground in Muladi in this morning, chanting slogans demanding accountability over the alleged attack.

Local sources said a general diary (GD) was filed with Muladi Police Station on Friday evening, citing a planned attempt to disrupt election activities. The injured reportedly received local treatment.

Arafat Jahan Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Muladi Police Station, said, "A GD has been recorded and the matter is under investigation, with legal action to follow based on findings."
