Jamaat man caught over alleged affair incident in Satkhira
A man identified as Shariful Islam Morol, 40, described as a Jamaat-e-Islami activist, was caught by local residents after they allegedly found him inside a woman's house in Debhata Upazila of Satkhira.
Villagers claim they broke down the door and found the man and the woman in what they described as a compromising situation. A video of the incident has since circulated on social media.
The incident took place around 9:30 pm on Monday (August 3) in Town Sripur village.
According to local residents, Shariful Islam Morol entered the home of a woman from the village's Uttarpara area. After learning of his presence, villagers gathered at the house, forced the door open, and detained both individuals. Shariful Islam is the son of Mozammel from the neighboring village of Azizpur.
Union Parishad member Bablur Rahman said the two were held by villagers until around midnight.
He also claimed that Shariful Islam is an active member of Jamaat-e-Islami and serves as a ward-level organizer.
Commenting on the matter, Abdus Salam Master, president of Jamaat's Ward No. 7 unit in Debhata Union, confirmed that Shariful Islam is an active member of the organization.
He said he was not immediately aware of the incident and learned about it later through local reports.
He added that the party would verify the allegations and take appropriate organizational action if necessary.
As of the time of reporting, there was no immediate information that law enforcement had filed a case or taken legal action in connection with the incident. Statements from the accused, Shariful Islam, or the woman involved were also not available.
