Jamaat suffered the most: Amir Shafiqur Rahman
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami amir (chief) Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that Jamaat-e-Islam suffered the most among all the political parties.
While speaking as the chief guest at the district Jamaat-e-Islami workers' conference at Tankerpara in Brahmanbaria city on Tuesday (October 15) he said, "Offices across the country including our central office have been sealed. We could not enter the office even for a moment. Our registration has been unfairly canceled and the emblem taken away. Finally, the previous government has banned us in the face of mass agitation to deceive the people.
"No other party has been subjected to such pain. We said that Jamaat-e-Islami will not take revenge for so much oppression. We will not take the law into our own hands," he added.
Referring to the creation of a non-discrimination state, Shafiqur Rahman said, "We want to create a state where there will be no discrimination. If even one person sleeps on the pavement due to poverty due to lack of money - that will not be tolerated by the state. It shall be the duty of the State to provide every poor and deprived citizen with the security of his shelter."
Leaders of the district and central committee spoke in the workers conference under the chairmanship of District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Ghulam Farooq.
