Jamaat to hold Dhaka rally on Jan 3 demanding justice for Hadi killing
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will hold a mass rally in the capital on January 3, demanding the arrest and trial of those responsible for the killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convener of Inqilab Mancha, the recovery of illegal weapons and the arrest of terrorists.
Party sources said the decision to organise the rally was taken at a recent meeting of Jamaat’s central executive council. According to the plan, the rally will be held at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.
To ensure the success of the rally, an implementation committee has already been formed under the leadership of Jamaat secretary general Mia Golam Parwar. Several sub-committees have also been formed under it and have held multiple meetings as part of the preparations. Arrangements are also being made to bring leaders, activists and supporters to Dhaka from district and upazila levels.
Jamaat’s publicity and media department chief Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer said the rally would be held in Dhaka on January 3 to press for justice for Sharif Osman Bin Hadi and the recovery of illegal arms, adding that a formal announcement would be made soon.
Several central leaders of the party said the aim is to gather several hundred thousand leaders, activists and supporters at the Manik Mia Avenue rally.
Jamaat assistant secretary general Hamidur Rahman Azad said discussions are ongoing about organising a large gathering in Dhaka to demand the arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the killing.
