Jamaat to hold meeting with Election Commission today

After BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami will meet with the Election Commission (EC). A team from Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, will have a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other members of the Election Commission on Thursday (February 13).

After the meeting, Mia Golam Parwar will address a press briefing in front of the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka.

Earlier, on Sunday (February 9), a BNP delegation met with the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners. The delegation was led by BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, and also included Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Selima Rahman.

After the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said, "If the proposed reform commission blocks the way for a fair election, BNP will oppose it. The Election Commission does not have the authority to set the election date. However, from the discussions with the EC, it seems the Commission will be fully ready to hold the parliamentary election between May and June."
