Jamaat will never come to state power: Gayeshwar
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, member of BNP’s Standing Committee, asserted that Jamaat-e-Islami will never come to state power until Doomsday. “Other parties may rise, but Jamaat will not,” he said, emphasizing that Jamaat opposed the Pakistan movement itself and has never been able to gain power in Pakistan either.
“They fail to understand the language of the common people and seek only to fulfill their own agendas,” Gayeshwar added. “Our nation’s people have sacrificed in every movement, especially the Liberation War. Those who refuse to accept 1971 or our independence, or who claim the conflict was a war between Pakistan and India instead of a liberation war, have no place in the hearts of Bangladeshis.”
Gayeshwar made these remarks during an event held at the home of BNP Central Executive Committee’s Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu in Damla, Srinagar Upazila, Munshiganj.
He also criticized what he described as a conspiracy to disrupt the upcoming elections. “There are efforts to ban the Awami League and prevent them from participating. While those guilty of crimes within the Awami League must face justice, saying they should be barred from politics is unacceptable,” he said.
“Banning political parties never resolves political issues. Now there is talk of banning the Awami League, and soon the BNP might face the same threat. Then the country could be run by the collaborators of 1971,” he warned.
The program was attended by BNP Central Executive Committee Joint General Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, former Foreign Secretary Mohsin Ali Khan, Munshiganj District BNP convener Awlad Hossain Ujjal, Josim Molla, Srinagar Union Parishad Chairman Tajul Islam, and Organizational Secretary of the District Women and Child Rights Forum Mahmud Hasan Fahad, among other BNP leaders and activists.
