Dhaka-8 candidate and Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), Nasiruddin Patwari, has said the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance is capable of forming a government.

He added that the details of who would hold which position have not yet been finalised and will be shared later.

Patwari submitted his nomination papers on Monday (December 29) on behalf of the alliance.

He stressed the need for swift justice in the Hadi murder case, noting that student leader Samyak was also killed in the same constituency. “This area has already witnessed deaths; we do not want any more bloodshed here,” he said, promising to transform the constituency into one of the city’s cleanest and most attractive areas.

Regarding resignations of some leaders, Patwari said, “We are focused on building a practical political alliance. While differences may arise with BNP or Jamaat, we respect those differences. This is not an ideological alliance; we have come together based on shared commitments to reform, justice, and economic development.”

He expressed optimism that the alliance will work together to reduce corruption.

Patwari will contest Dhaka-8 against BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas. He had previously collected nomination papers for Dhaka-18, the constituency where Inqilab Mancha Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi was recently killed in a gun attack during his election campaign.
