The Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman and Rangpur-3 candidate GM Quader on Sunday (January 25) claimed that the current government was formed with the support of Jamaat-e-Islami and the Nationalist Citizen Party (NCP), and alleged that the upcoming 13th National Parliament election is being conducted under their control, undermining neutrality.

Speaking to reporters at his ancestral home in Senpara, of Rangpur, Quader said, “The government, NCP, and Jamaat are jointly managing the election process. This prevents free, fair, and impartial elections. Many candidates are unable to campaign in their constituencies, some are contesting from jail, and false cases have been filed against numerous candidates.”

Quader asserted that the National Party is receiving widespread public support in the upcoming election. “The enthusiasm and encouragement of the people inspires me,” he said.

He also criticised the government’s handling of the upcoming referendum, claiming that state resources and officials are being used to ensure a ‘Yes’ outcome, while dissenters are being labeled as fascist allies.

Quader warned voters to remain alert to prevent a ‘Yes’ victory, which he described as aligned with Nazi ideology.

The NP Chairman further accused the interim government of destabilising the country over the past 18 months, citing unemployment, lack of security, and economic stagnation.

He claimed that the government is influencing the electoral environment through appointments of student coordinators, party patronage, and election management, with Jamaat also asserting control over student bodies, effectively shaping the electoral process in their favour.
