The country’s traditional Jamdani saree, along with panjabi and pajama attire, has been included in the museum collection of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations at its headquarters in Rome.

The information was confirmed on Saturday (May 23) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citing the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome.

According to the ministry, the inclusion was made possible through sustained efforts and initiatives by the Bangladesh mission in Rome. The Jamdani saree will be permanently displayed in the FAO museum’s “Tradition and Innovation” section, while the panjabi and pajama will be exhibited on a rotational basis.

Officials said the display will introduce Bangladesh’s rich textile heritage to international visitors at the FAO headquarters, highlighting the country’s agrarian lifestyle, rural culture, and craftsmanship on a global platform.
