JaPa announces candidates for 289 seats

The Jatiya Party (JaPa), the main opposition party in the Parliament, has finalised the candidates for 289 constituencies for the upcoming 12th national elections.

JaPa Secretary General Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu announced the names of the candidates at a press briefing on Monday.

The meet was attended by top leaders of the party at the Banani office of the party’s chairman.

The final nomination papers will be given to the candidates at 7pm.

Mujibul Haque Chunnu said that the party has many devoted leaders who have sacrificed for the sake of the party. Again many new ones are eligible, it becomes difficult to select from them, that’s why it has been delayed to finalise the list.

Earlier, the party started selling nomination papers on November 20 at a price of nomination form at Tk30,000 for the upcoming polls.
