JaPa central office attacked again in Kakrail
The central office of the Jatiya Party (JaPa) in Kakrail, Dhaka, was once again attacked, vandalised and set on fire on Friday (September 5) evening.
The incident came after a solidarity rally in Shahbagh, organised by Gono Odhikar Parishad in front of the National Museum, demanding the resignation of the home affairs adviser over an attack on its president, Nurul Haque Nur, along with three other demands.
After the rally, participants reportedly marched towards their central office in Paltan, and the attack and arson occurred around that time.
At the time, police tried to control the situation by firing water from water cannons and deploying sound grenades. The actions further agitated the crowd, which became increasingly unruly. Police gradually cleared the protesters and took position near the office. Efforts were also underway to extinguish the fire at the office using water from the cannons.
Meanwhile, although the situation is now under control, fear continues to prevail among local residents.
Earlier, on August 31, a group of protesters attacked and vandalised the Jatiya Party central office in Kakrail during a rally. The protesters had set fire to the office, and police later dispersed them using batons. Water cannons were also employed to put out the fire and drive away the attackers.
