JaPa warns of possible civil unrest if all parties excluded from election
Jatiya Party (JaPa) Secretary General Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary has warned that excluding political parties from the upcoming national election could lead to civil unrest in the country.
Speaking at a press conference at the party’s central office in Kakrail on Friday morning, Patwary said, “If all political parties are not allowed to participate in the upcoming national election, there could be a civil war.”
He criticized the prevailing political environment, saying a fair and conducive atmosphere for elections is yet to be established. “There is no level playing field. However, if the government demonstrates goodwill and capability, such an environment can be created within the next six months,” he stated.
On JaPa’s election strategy, Patwary said the party is closely monitoring the government's actions and will make its decision based on the evolving situation.
He also accused the Election Commission of biased behavior, claiming it is holding talks with unregistered political parties while ignoring the rights of registered ones.
Addressing internal party disputes, Patwary confirmed that individuals expelled from the Jatiya Party remain so under court orders and are not authorized to convene any council or participate in party activities.
