Kazi Mamunur Rashid, general secretary of the Rowshan-aligned faction of the Jatiya Party (JaPa), was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) late on Sunday, September 28. He was taken into custody in front of the Westin Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, police said. On Monday morning, Mohammad Nasirul Islam, joint commissioner (administration) of DB, confirmed the arrest and said legal action is being taken against the accused and that they will be produced in court. Records show Kazi Mamunur Rashid had previously been arrested on November 4 in a rape case and sent to jail, though he was later released on bail. He is also facing multiple cases alleging involvement in killings during the July protests.

জাতীয় পার্টির (জাপা) রওশনপন্থী অংশের মহাসচিব কাজী মামুনুর রশিদকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে ঢাকা মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ (ডিবি)। রোববার (২৮ সেপ্টেম্বর) রাতে রাজধানীর গুলশান এলাকার হোটেল ওয়েস্টিনের সামনে থেকে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। সোমবার সকালে গণমাধ্যমকে এ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন ডিবির যুগ্ম কমিশনার (প্রশাসন) মোহাম্মদ নাসিরুল ইসলাম। তিনি বলেন, গ্রেপ্তারকৃত আসামিদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হচ্ছে। ডিবি কার্যালয় থেকে তাকে আদালতে নেয়া হবে। জানা গেছে, গত ৪ নভেম্বর একটি ধর্ষণ মামলায় কাজী মামুনুর রশিদকে গ্রেপ্তার করে কারাগারে পাঠানো হয়েছিল। তবে তিনি আদালত থেকে জামিনে মুক্ত ছিলেন। এছাড়া, জুলাই আন্দোলনে হত্যার সঙ্গে জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে তার বিরুদ্ধে একাধিক মামলা রয়েছে।
