JaPa’s registration and symbol remain under GM Quader: Rezaul Islam

JaPa Presidium member Advocate Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan has said the party’s registration and electoral symbol, the plough (Langol), remain under Chairman GM Quader’s authority as they currently stand.

Speaking to journalists at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon after meeting Commissioner Anwarul Islam on Sunday, September 28, he said some expelled members of JaPa had illegally held a council to claim the registration and symbol. “This move had no legal basis and was conducted without approval from the chairman or presidium. We have formally notified the EC in writing, and they have accepted our application, assuring us the matter will be discussed next week,” he said.

Rezaul added that JaPa’s registration number is 12 and the party’s 10th national council has not yet been held. Under GM Quader’s leadership, candidates contested the last general, upazila, and city corporation elections with the plough symbol and were elected. “Legally, the matter is clear,” he stressed.

He expressed hope the EC would soon confirm their position officially and end the confusion.
