Jashore Mohila League leader Mahua arrested again

Police have once again arrested Nasima Sultana Mahua, a leader of the banned Bangladesh Mohila Awami League, from her home in the Palbari Gazirghat Road area of Jashore city late on Wednesday night, June 10. Kotwali Police Station Inspector Kazi Babul Hossain confirmed the matter.

Mahua, the daughter of late Sohrab Ali Khan of Palbari Gazirghat Road area, has been at the centre of several controversies. She was previously arrested by DB police on December 8, 2025, in connection with a sabotage case and later released on bail.

She was a candidate for the Jashore Zila Parishad membership and had collected nomination papers to contest the reserved women's seat for the Jashore-3 constituency in the national parliament election.

She previously gained widespread attention after holding a press conference accusing a police officer of rape. Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, Mahua had been active on Facebook, regularly posting against the interim government.
