The Jatiya Party (Raushon faction) has called for the immediate dissolution of the current interim government, citing its “consistent failure” to address the worsening law and order situation across the country. The party has demanded that power be handed over to a non-partisan caretaker government to oversee the upcoming national elections.

At a press conference held on Sunday at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity, Jatiya Party Secretary General Kazi Md. Mamunur Rashid said the nation is gripped by fear due to a surge in violence, including killings, extortion, terrorism, and land grabbing.

“The people of Bangladesh are feeling helpless in the face of rampant crimes. No one’s life or property is safe anymore,” he said, referring to a brutal murder in Old Dhaka on July 10 as emblematic of the deteriorating security situation.

Mamunur Rashid criticized the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, for what he described as “indecisiveness and apathy,” claiming it had failed in every sector.

He warned that without immediate corrective measures, the country risks plunging into deeper crisis. “If this continues, Bangladesh is headed toward a dark and dangerous future,” he said.

The party also expressed concern about the impact of international economic policies on Bangladesh’s fragile economy. Mamunur Rashid pointed to the 35% tariff imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which he said poses a major threat to the country’s export sector. He further noted the lack of foreign investment over the past 11 months as a sign of economic instability.

In a direct appeal to Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Jatiya Party leader called for urgent intervention to restore order. “The people of this country do not want to see further bloodshed. They are looking to the armed forces with hope,” he said.

Rashid also alleged that both domestic and foreign conspirators are attempting to destabilize Bangladesh and discredit its military, particularly in light of its international peacekeeping roles.

He reiterated the party’s demand that a neutral caretaker government be established to ensure that the next general election, expected in December, is free and fair.

Several senior party leaders, including Presidium members Shafiqul Rahman Shafik, Khandaker Moniruzzaman Titu, Syed Wahedul Islam Tarun, and Hafsa Sultana, were present at the press conference.
