JCD leader expelled over Facebook post supporting referendum

A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Aditmari Government College in Lalmonirhat has been expelled from the party within an hour of posting on social media.

The expelled leader, Rakibul Hasan, was serving as the organisational secretary of Aditmari upazila JCD. He was also reportedly active in the July movement.

According to sources, a post titled "Implement the referendum verdict without delay" was shared from a Facebook account named 'MD Rakibull Hasan' around 1:00 pm on Monday, March 30. Within approximately one hour, the district JCD expelled him from all positions, including primary membership.

The district JCD stated that the action was taken over violation of party discipline, and instructions were issued for other party leaders and activists to refrain from contacting him.

Regarding the matter, Rakibul Hasan said he had been involved in JCD politics for a long time and played an active role in the movement. He claimed that he was expelled because of a single Facebook post.

Meanwhile, the senior vice-president of the district JCD said the expulsion was due to breach of party discipline, but declined to comment further.
