JCD leader hacked to death in Pabna’s Ishwardi
A local leader of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was hacked to death in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna late Thursday (April 2), police said.
The victim, Imran Hossain Sohag, 26, was attacked around 10:45pm, while sitting at a roadside tea stall near a railway line in the Sara Gopalpur area. He died at the scene.
According to police and witnesses, Sohag was chatting with friends when a group of assailants approached, engaged in an argument, and then attacked him with sharp weapons.
Sohag, a JCD member and a proposed member secretary of a local committee faction, was the son of Enamul Haque of Baghail Monnobipara village in Pakshi union.
Preliminary findings suggest the killing may have stemmed from prior enmity.
Locals reported hearing several gunshots during the incident.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Ishwardi Circle) Pranab Kumar confirmed that the victim sustained severe head injuries from sharp and heavy weapons, which likely caused his death.
Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest those involved. The body is being sent to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy.
