JCD Shahbagh blockade causes traffic disruption, public hardship
The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has blocked the Shahbagh area in Dhaka in protest against alleged provocation and the disruption of academic environments in schools and colleges. As a result, traffic has been completely halted, causing major inconvenience for commuters and pedestrians.
Several thousand JCD activists began a rally from Nayapaltan on Monday afternoon. After passing the National Press Club, they reached Shahbagh and sat on the road around 4:45 PM, blocking all nearby streets. As a result, commuters had no choice but to walk to their destinations.
During the protest, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) General Secretary Nasir Uddin accused a certain student organization of secretly undermining the educational environment for an extended period.
He said, "In the past week, several brutal murders have taken place, but the members of this 'secret organization' have tried to mislead students about these incidents. Instead, they have only tried to confuse students about the Mitford incident. They are even spreading propaganda about the acting chairman of the BNP."
"We have held this protest march and blockade to resist these dishonest actions and to make our position clear. However, we do not wish to create any unrest," Nasir added.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khalid Mansur said, "The police and law enforcement agencies are working to maintain security."
