Jet fuel price goes up by Tk 17.06 per litre

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of aircraft fuel jet fuel (Jet A-1) again. The price of Jet A-1 for both domestic and international flights has been raised by about 10.3 percent in October.

The price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been fixed at Tk 182.71 per litre, which was Tk 165.65 in September. That is, it has increased by Tk 17.06 per litre or 10.3 percent compared to the previous month. The price of jet fuel for international flights operated by local and foreign airlines has been fixed at 1.1882 US dollars per litre. Customs duty and VAT are included in this price.

In September, the price of jet fuel for international flights was 1.0770 dollars per litre. That is, in the case of international flights, the price has increased by 0.1112 dollars per litre or about 10.3 percent.

An order issued by BERC on Wednesday said that the new price has been fixed on the basis of the average of the published Platts rate of Jet A-1 from September 5 to October 4, the exchange rate of the US dollar considered in the settlement of letters of credit of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and other relevant cost components.

The commission informed that the price of Jet A-1 in the international market, the exchange rate and other related costs were reviewed before finalising the price for October. According to the order of BERC, the revised price will come into effect from midnight.

In September, BERC had fixed the price of jet fuel for domestic flights at Tk 165.65 per litre by increasing it from Tk 159.52. At the same time, the price for international flights had been raised from 1.0358 dollars to 1.0770 dollars per litre.
