Jhenaigati Upazila Mohila Awami League president Ayesha Siddika Rupali of Sherpur has been arrested. She was arrested from her home in Tentultala Bazar of Hatibandha Union on Friday morning. She is the daughter of local freedom fighter Abdur Rahim. Police said that there is a case against Rupali under the Special Powers Act at Jhenaigati Police Station. She has been arrested as an accused in that case. She was sent to Sherpur District Jail through the court on Friday afternoon. Jhenaigati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Al Amin confirmed the arrest of Awami League leader Rupali. She will be taken against those who engage in such activities in the future.

শেরপুরের ঝিনাইগাতী উপজেলা মহিলা আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি আয়েশা সিদ্দিকা রূপালিকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। শুক্রবার (১৪ মার্চ) ভোরে তাকে হাতিবান্ধা ইউনিয়নের তেঁতুলতলা বাজারের নিজ বাড়ি থেকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। তিনি স্থানীয় বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা আব্দুর রহিমের মেয়ে। পুলিশ জানায়, রূপালির বিরুদ্ধে ঝিনাইগাতী থানায় বিশেষ ক্ষমতা আইনে একটি মামলা রয়েছে। ওই মামলার আসামি হিসেবে তাঁকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। শুক্রবার বিকেলে আদালতের মাধ্যমে তাকে শেরপুর জেলা কারাগারে পাঠানো হয়। আওয়ামী লীগ নেত্রী রূপালিকে গ্রেপ্তারের সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করেছেন ঝিনাইগাতী থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা আল আমীন।
