Jisan Mia Pradhan, the expelled central leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir, who was arrested in a case on charges of rape and abortion, was produced in court after undergoing treatment for four days on Tuesday. The court ordered him to be sent to jail. He was later sent to Cumilla Central Jail.

Jisan was produced in the Cumilla Judicial Magistrate-3 Amli Court around 5:40pm today. After the hearing, Judge Tayyob Uddin ordered him to be sent to jail. Plaintiff's lawyer Monir Hossain Patwary confirmed the matter.

Earlier, Jisan was under police custody at Cumilla Medical College Hospital for four days. The medical board declared him healthy and released him around 12 noon.

Mohammad Shahjahan, acting director of CMC Hospital, said that the members of the medical board reported that Jisan Mia Pradhan was healthy after tests and observations.

Jisan was arrested last Friday night on charges of raping a widow from Daudkandi, Cumilla, and later forcing her to have an abortion.

The case alleges that the relationship was established through acquaintances through Facebook. When the woman became pregnant, she was pressured to have an abortion and tried to avoid it by promising marriage.

Last Thursday (June 11), Jisan's relatives filed a general diary (GD) with Daudkandi Model Police Station, reporting him missing. He was rescued from the Laksam Railway Junction area the next day, Friday (June 12) night. Police claim that Jisan was in hiding; however, the family claimed that he was rescued unconscious.

Jisan was the central assistant international affairs secretary of the main Islami Chhatra Shibir and the former president of the Cumilla district west branch. After the allegations came to light, the organization expelled him.
