JnU assistant proctor, classmate held

Police have picked up Jagannath University (JnU) student Fairuz Abontika's classmate Amman Siddique and Assistant Proctor Din Islam in connection with her death.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman confirmed the news.

He said Din Islam and Amman were under police surveillance since the incident happened and now they are under police custody.

Earlier on Saturday, Abontika's mother Tahmina Shabnam filed an abetment of suicide case against Din Islam and Amman at Kotwali Model Police Station in Cumilla.

Fairuz Abontika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year of JnU Law Department, hanged herself at her Cumilla residence on Friday after accusing her classmate Amman and the assistant proctor of harassment on a Facebook post.
