Joint forces to be deployed soon in Narsingdi to control situation: Home Adviser
Joint forces will soon be deployed in Narsingdi to bring militant and terrorist groups under control, said Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He made the comment on Wednesday morning while inspecting the Narsingdi district jail.
He said that a joint operation will be carried out in Raipura, which is the most critical part of Narsingdi. He said the presence of armed groups is excessive there. For this reason, a combined operation involving the army, RAB, police and other forces will be conducted. Traditional spears have now turned into advanced weapons. They will be brought under law soon.
The Home Adviser further said that when the jail was set ablaze on July 19, all inmates fled. Some surrendered, and many others have been arrested. A significant number of the looted weapons have been recovered. Most inmates are involved in drug-related crimes. He said priority must be placed on eliminating narcotics, and a special prison will be established for drug offenders.
Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Faruk and senior officials were present at the time.
In the morning, the Home Adviser visited the police lines’ canteen, hospital and other installations, and later he inspected the Narsingdi district jail.
