Joint secretary Anisur removed from post after decomposed mother's body found

The government has ordered the immediate relief of Joint Secretary Dr A K M Anisur Rahman from his duties following the discovery of his mother's decomposing body at a flat in Mirpur, capital.

A notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday, June 3, stating that Anisur Rahman is currently serving as a member (Engineering and Development) of the Mongla Port Authority.


He has been instructed to be relieved from his current post and join a new workplace within a stipulated timeframe. Failure to complete the handover within the deadline will result in him being treated as relieved with immediate effect.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari had said that legal action would be taken against Anisur Rahman following the recovery of the body of his 75-year-old mother, Noorjahan Begum, from the Mirpur flat.
