Jordan announces general amnesty for undocumented Bangladeshi workers
Jordan has announced a general amnesty for undocumented Bangladeshi expatriate workers, allowing them to either return home without paying penalties or regularise their status to continue working legally in the country.
The information was disclosed on Wednesday (June 17) in a special notice issued by the Bangladesh Embassy in Jordan.
According to the embassy, all undocumented foreign workers in Jordan will fall under the scope of the amnesty. Those willing to return to Bangladesh will be able to do so without facing any financial fines or legal penalties.
Workers who wish to remain in Jordan will also have the opportunity to legalise their employment status, subject to fulfilling certain conditions set by the authorities.
The amnesty package further includes provisions allowing workers to change employers. Domestic workers will be permitted to transfer employment to new sponsors, while individuals who entered Jordan on visit visas may apply for work permits under the revised arrangements.
The embassy has urged affected workers to contact the mission directly to access the benefits and complete necessary procedures within the stipulated framework.
