Journalist Manjurul Alam Panna granted interim bail

The High Court has granted interim bail to journalist Manjurul Alam Panna in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Shahbagh Police Station in Dhaka.

The bench of Justice A S M Abdul Mobin and Justice Sagir Hossain passed the order on Thursday after (November 6) hearing the bail petition and issuing a rule.

Senior lawyers Sara Hossain, Ramzan Ali Shikder, and Priya Ahsan Chowdhury appeared for Panna, while Deputy Attorney General Sultana Akter Ruby represented the state.

Lawyer Ramzan Ali Shikder said the bail order means there is no legal barrier to his release.

Earlier, on August 28, Manjurul Alam Panna was arrested from an event of the organization Manch 71 at the Dhaka Reporters Unity.
