Journalist stabbed in Rajshahi
A journalist has been stabbed in Rajshahi metropolitan city. The attack occurred on Friday around 4:00 pm in the area adjacent to Madrasa Field in the city. The injured journalist, Al-Fatta Samad, 42, is currently undergoing treatment in Ward 4 of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
It is known that Al-Fatta Samad is a staff correspondent for the daily Barta and a resident of Sipaipara area. At the time of the incident, he was present at his business establishment 'RMS Variety Store'. He alleges that Sri Rajib Ray, a resident of the same area, carried out the attack on him.
According to the injured journalist, the assailant attempted to stab him in the chest, but due to the height of his seating position, the blow struck his right leg instead. He was seriously injured and lost consciousness due to excessive bleeding. He was later rescued and admitted to hospital.
Hospital sources said a wound approximately 5 inches deep was inflicted on his right leg, requiring four stitches. Doctors have stated that due to significant blood loss, he will need to be kept under observation for several days.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has said that legal action is underway. Concerned officials stated that the accused is currently absconding and efforts to arrest him are continuing.
