Journo's hanging body recovered from pine forest in Cox’s Bazar
The body of a local journalist was found hanging from a pine tree near the beach area in Cox’s Bazar town on Thursday morning.
Around 9 a.m., locals discovered the body inside a pine grove adjacent to the golf course by the beach. Following the circulation of the photos on social media, the victim was identified as Mohammad Amin, 25.
Amin was the Ukhiya Upazila correspondent for the national daily Dainik Amar Praner Bangladesh, published in Dhaka. He hailed from Balukhali Ward No. 1 in Palongkhali Union, Ukhiya .
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Mohammad Ilias Khan aid police recovered the body from the site after receiving a report. After preliminary formalities, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police suspect the death to be a suicide. A bus ticket for the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route was found in Amin’s pocket, indicating he had traveled from Chattogram on the night of September 3 at 9:20 p.m.
