A Dhaka Court sentenced Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul to five years in prison each over plot allocation irregularities in Purbachal.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of the Fifth Special Judge Court, passed the order around 11:45 am on Thursday (November 27).

Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also been sentenced to 21 years in prison by the same court in three separate cases related to plot allocations by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).

However, co-accused Mohammad Khurshid Alam, a former RAJUK member Saiful Islam, was acquitted in the case. Other defendants remain fugitives.

The case, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission in January this year, involves allegations that Sheikh Hasina and her family misused their authority to acquire plots in Sector 27 of Purbachal, which they were not eligible for.
