Jahangirnagar University (JU) has strongly refuted recent remarks made by Amir Hamza, describing them as “completely false and fabricated.”

In a statement issued on Sunday (September 21), the JU administration said Hamza, through social media posts, claimed that he had been admitted to the Department of Journalism and Media Studies and witnessed “students in residential halls gargling with alcohol” early in the morning. He also alleged that students had assaulted teachers with sticks.

The university clarified that none of these claims were true. The Department of Journalism and Media Studies was established in 2011, and the first batch of students was admitted that same year, making Hamza’s claim of enrollment baseless.

The administration further dismissed allegations of students consuming alcohol in halls or attacking teachers, calling them entirely fabricated.

“The teacher-student relationship at Jahangirnagar University has always been cordial and commendable. Making such motivated and fabricated comments about a national institution is not only unacceptable but also unfortunate,” the statement read.

JU officials urged Amir Hamza to refrain from spreading baseless claims and to exercise caution and objectivity in his public statements.
