Jubaida Rahman meets Melania Trump, other first ladies at global summit

Dr Jubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and a distinguished cardiologist, is in Washington DC on an official visit to attend the 'Fostering the Future Together: Global Coalition Summit' at the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump. During the summit, she met with Melania Trump and first ladies from various countries.

The summit, held on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 24 and 25, brought together first ladies and spouses of heads of state from over 45 countries.

As a physician, Dr Jubaida Rahman reiterated her commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for every child.

Her delegation includes Dr Morshed Hasan Khan, Professor of Marketing at Dhaka University; Dr Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah; and Barrister Mehnaz Mannan.

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqul Rahman Rumon confirmed the matter.

He said that on Wednesday morning local time, US First Lady and summit host Melania Trump welcomed Dr Jubaida Rahman and all the guests at the White House. The formal proceedings of the summit began with the US First Lady's welcome address.

Dr Jubaida Rahman once again called upon everyone to play a role in building a safe future for children.

She then had a courtesy meeting with Melania Trump and exchanged pleasantries. They also agreed to work together for the welfare of children.

The Additional Press Secretary further said Dr Jubaida Rahman expressed her special thanks to Melania Trump for organising such an important summit.

She also held courtesy meetings and exchanged greetings with first ladies and spouses of heads of state from various countries.

Dr Jubaida later attended the closing session of the 'Fostering the Future Together: Global Coalition Summit'.

She concluded by attending a group photo session and reception.

Earlier, she delivered an important speech at the summit's opening ceremony on Tuesday.

In her speech, she highlighted various groundbreaking steps and initiatives taken by the Bangladesh government to improve the quality of life for children.

Representatives of world leaders present expressed deep interest in Bangladesh's experience and pledged to work together with Bangladesh for the welfare of children.

Dr Jubaida Rahman was interviewed by the White House during the summit.

In response to a question, she said Bangladesh is committed to learning from global experiences and working in partnership with other first ladies and spouses to build a brighter future for all children.

Alongside the summit, an exhibition was held featuring 11 leading technology companies from the US, showcasing various innovative technologies and applications for improving children's education.

Dr Jubaida Rahman and her delegation visited the exhibition.
