Jubo Dal activist shot in Hatirjheel
A ward-level activist of the Jubo Dal was injured in a shooting incident in Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area.
He has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
According to police sources, the youth was found lying on the ground with bleeding injuries to his face and forehead around 11:45pm on Saturday (April 19).
With the help of local residents, the injured man was rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment. The victim has been identified as Arif Sardar (35), a member of the 36th Ward unit of Jubo Dal under Motijheel Police Station.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Russel Islam of Hatirjheel Police Station said, “At night, we received information that a young man was lying injured in Morol Goli. Upon rescuing him and taking him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, the doctors informed us that his condition was critical. The bullet entered through his mouth and exited through his forehead."
He said, “Arif is a member of the 36 Ward Jubo Dal under Hatirjheel Police Station. However, who shot him or why is still unknown. An investigation is underway.”
According to family sources, Arif hailed from Hogla Balikandi village at Shibchar upazila in Madaripur. He currently lives in a rented house in Demra Staff Quarters and works at a grill workshop.
