Jubo Dal leader expelled for threatening to hang agricultural officer in Magura
The Sadar upazila unit of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal has expelled its member secretary, Munshi Nayanuzzaman Nayan, for threatening to hang an agricultural officer over a list of farmers excluded from an incentive programme.
The decision was announced in a press release signed by Joint General Secretary Minhazul Islam Bhuiyan from the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal on Saturday, July 11.
The release stated that Nayan was expelled from his post and primary party membership following a decision by central committee President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Noorul Islam MP, after clear evidence was found of his threatening behaviour.
According to sources, Nayan had submitted a list of 200 people to Upazila Assistant Agricultural Officer Palash Kumar Ray for agricultural incentives. While 150 people received the incentives, 50 were excluded. An argument ensued over the matter, during which Nayan threatened to hang the officer. An audio recording of the conversation went viral on social media on Friday.
Nayan, however, claimed the audio was fabricated using artificial intelligence (AI) as part of a political conspiracy against him.
Efforts to reach the Assistant Agricultural Officer Palash Kumar Ray for comment were unsuccessful.
