Jubo Dal leader shot inside BNP office in Khulna, two injured

A Jubo Dal leader was shot and another person injured after unidentified attackers opened fire inside a political party office in southwestern Bangladesh’s Khulna city.

The incident took place around midday at the office of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the Putimari Bazar area under Jalma Union in Lobonchora police station on Thursday (May 21).

Police said attackers entered the office and opened fire, leaving two people wounded.

The injured include Masum Billah, 33, president of the Putimari Bazar committee and a local youth leader, and Jahid Masum. Both are currently undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharraf Hossain of Lobonchora Police Station confirmed the shooting and said police are investigating the circumstances behind the attack.

Authorities said efforts are underway to identify those involved, while the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
