A local Jubo Dal leader has reportedly threatened an imam for not mentioning BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's name during the munazat at an Eid prayer in Kashipur union of Narayanganj Sadar upazila.

During the concluding munazat, Mufti Muhammad Imdadul Haque, the khatib of Anjubahar Jame Mosque in Char Kashipur and also serves as Dawah secretary of the Narayanganj district committee of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, prayed for the well-being of the country and the sick but refrained from mentioning any specific names.

Saikat Hasan Iqbal, a former joint secretary of the Jubo Dal's Fatullah unit, allegedly confronted Imdadul after the prayer, expressing anger over the omission of Khaleda Zia's name despite prior requests.

In a Facebook post, Imdadul described the incident as harassment, alleging that Iqbal aggressively confronted him and issued threats of dismissal.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that an altercation took place but noted that Iqbal left the scene after facing objections from other attendees.

"I had avoid mentioning specific names to prevent political division within the diverse congregation," Imdadul said. He also urged local BNP leaders to take action against Iqbal’s misconduct in his Facebook post

When contacted, Saikat Hasan Iqbal denied all the allegations, saying, "I merely asked why Khaleda Zia’s name was not included in the supplication."

"I never said I would get him fired," Iqbal added.
