A local leader of Jubo Dal, named Md. Selim (42), was shot dead in broad daylight in Raujan upazila of Chattogram. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Ishaan Bhatter Hat area under Kadolpur Union.

Selim was a former member secretary of the convening committee of Kadolpur Union Jubo Dal. He was known to be a follower of Ghulam Akbar Khondkar, convener of BNP's Chattogram North District unit.

According to family sources, Selim was traveling to the market with his wife and daughter on a motorcycle when 4–5 assailants, including two young men disguised in burqas, approached in a CNG auto-rickshaw and shot him in the head before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Selim’s wife, Ferdous Akhter, alleged that one of the attackers was a local criminal known as Dama Ilias. Locals suspect the murder stemmed from a rivalry over local dominance.

Raujan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan said the body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Notably, Raujan has witnessed a disturbing trend of violence, with 13 murders — including 10 politically motivated killings — over the past year.
